Electric Quilt 60 Degree Triangle Quilts

I prepared a few layouts in Electric Quilt to get you started with the new 2 and 4 inch 60° Triangles from Inklingo.

There are also dozens of worksheets in the shape collection itself. We showed a few pretty quilt designs yesterday but if you have EQ, it’s easy to design more!

Set the Size

No matter what approach you take, you must set the size according to the dimensions in the Inklingo shape collection:

  • 2 inch 60° Triangles are 1.73 inches high and 2 inches wide.
  • 4 inch 60° Triangles are 3.46 inches high and 4 inches wide.
There are at least two ways to set up the worktable. As usual, EQ gives you lots of options, so these are just suggestions.

1. Worktable > Work on Quilt > Quilt > New Quilt > One-patch Quilt > Layout > Triangles

This design uses 2 and 4 inch 60° Triangles—both sizes.

UPDATE March 2013 See the comment about the Layout type in EQ7.

There must be a way to set two sizes of triangles in EQ. I haven’t figured that out yet, so I colored with black so the lines dividing into small diamonds would not show. All of the 4 inch triangles are black.

This one looks like an envelope to me.

The colors remind me of the old Hudson’s Bay blankets.

You could make this with any of the sizes listed in the Inklingo Index of Shapes.

2. Worktable > Work on Quilt > Quilt > New Quilt > One-patch Quilt > Layout > Lightning

That’s how I got the zig zag effect above.

Download the free EQ Project File

There are more quilts in the project file, but it is still only the tip of the iceberg. It should be enough to get you started.

(All of the files are identical.)
You know that whatever you design in EQ will be easy to cut and sew when you print the shapes on fabric with Inklingo—no templates, no measuring, no weird rulers, AND a line to cut on, a line to sew on!

What’s next?

There are more quilt designs in the forecast. If you are subscribed to the blog, you will receive an email when the next ones are ready.

This is a good time to order and download 2 and 4 inch 60° Triangles. The introductory sale price expires soon, okay?
