This warms my heart on a cold winter day!
Bert in Michigan made this quilt for a special boy in her life. Word is that he loves his quilt and always keeps it close by.
I love this photo! What a beautiful face, full of joy!
The idea came from Bonnie Hunter/your site and the blocks were pieced the Inklingo way.
I love bright colors for children’s quilts and have a large stash. For some years I was in a small group in my quilt guild who made quilts for ill children for a local hospital. Often times I still purchase more bright fabrics just because.
This quilt is about 40 x 50 inches.
There are detailed instructions for sewing this design with Inkllingo on the blog.
Bonnie Hunter’s Leaders & Enders Baby Quilt includes two free PDFs.
Inklingo is perfect for this quilt:
- Fast and accurate because you don’t draw lines on fabric.
- Less fabric is wasted than using 2 inch squares. (If you use 2 inch squares, a small, fiddly triangle is left over. It is an odd size, so most quilters would never use it.)
- Only the triangles are printed so the prep is very fast.
- The free PDFs keep you organized.
With Inklingo, you can print hundreds of triangles very quickly so they are handy whenever you need a Leader or Ender!
NOTE I used 1.5 inch HST (Half Square Triangles) in the instructions to match Bonnie’s instructions, but you could use the 1.32 inch HST in the FREE Diamond Triangles Squares shape collection instead. You would need to use the 1.32 inch square as a guide to cut the rectangles.
If you make an I Spy quilt, I would love to see it!
This heart-warming quilt is perfect for anyone in North America who has been shocked by the weather in the past few days.
This week in Burlington is a definite contrast to last week.
MORE I SPY QUILTS
If you need a little more heart-warming, have a look at Bert’s other very special I Spy quilts too.
By the way, Bert’s full name is Alberta. It is not a common name but one of my Canadian Great Grandmothers was Alberta too— a lot less common than Linda!
I’ve been showing photos of life at Inklingo Headquarters on Facebook.
You don’t have to have a Facebook account to see what I post there, but if you do, please check Inkingo on Facebook every day for fresh photos.
Just because you have “liked” Inklingo on FB does NOT mean you will see my photos in your Newsfeed. Strange but true. I hope you will LIKE what we share there.
Please subscribe (top of right sidebar), so you don’t miss anything.
Thank you, Bert, for letting me feature your wonderful quilts and thank you for visiting!
