I am delighted to be able to offer Willyne Hammerstein's beautiful book here. It includes patterns for 20 stunning designs and notes about Willyne's life story. Every quilt is a work of art. It includes Passacaglia and Midnight Fireworks.
Millefiori Quilts is not just for quilters who like English Paper Piecing.
Willyne sewed with a running stitch to make her exceptional Millefiori Quilts. Some quilters are using English Paper Piecing instead. I recommend a running stitch, like Willyne.
The book was published by one of the most beautiful quilt magazines in the world—Quiltmania!
Many of the quilts can be made with Inklingo shapes (list) but the sizes are a little different because the shapes in the book are measured in centimeters. For example, one of the quilts uses hexagons with 4.5 cm sides (finished). 4.5 cm = 1.77 inches, so quilters have been using 1.5 or 2 inch Inklingo hexagons.
There is a list of the quilts in Millefiori which are Inklingo-able.
La Creme de la Creme and Christmas Stars can be made with 1 inch 60° Diamonds and 1 inch 60° Hexagons.
Love be my Guiding Star can be made with 1 inch 60° Diamonds and 3 inch 60° Diamonds.
Upstairs, Downstairs can be made with 0.75 inch squares and 1.5 inch HST.
Wild is the Wind can be made with the Passacaglia shape collection or the Ballet shape collection in a choice of original or larger sizes.
There are new shape collections for Passacaglia (cover quilt), Midnight Fireworks and Valse Brillante.
Inklingo shapes are named with the finished size to make it easy. All available shapes are listed in the Index of Shapes under the Support & Goodies tab (above).
Willyne's beautiful designs can be sewn by even more quilters whether they use Inklingo to
Sewing the shapes in La Passacaglia is similar to sewing hexagons for Grandmother's Flower Garden and other designs, but there is added complexity because the rosettes interlock and overlap each other.
The new Inklingo shape collections do NOT include instructions, so you need the book to see how the rosettes interlock.
Two Inklingo shape collections are available for Passacaglia, one in centimeters to match the size in the book, and one in inches.
ALL AROUND THE WORLD
We are very lucky to be quilters in the twenty-first century! Willyne, who was born and lives in The Netherlands, named her book Millefiori which is Italian for a thousand flowers. She was inspired by the tiling designs of an English mathematician and the book was published by Quiltmania in France. Then it was shipped across the Atlantic, so I can mail it from the USA (Niagara Falls NY) to you—wherever you are in the world.
Not only that, but now you can order and download Inklingo shapes for the cover quilt to print on fabric from my site in Canada. Main Millefiori Page
SEPTEMBER 2017 UPDATE Willyne's third book, Millefiori Quilts 3, is available now too. If you order both at the same time, they can be mailed together, so you save on postage.

GET READY TO FUSSY CUT!
There are several articles on the All About Inklingo blog about fussy cutting with Inklingo for Willyne's designs.
Passacaglia is a Baroque music form from the 1600s which was destined to cause confusion for quilters in 2015.
1. Some quilters mistakenly think La Passacaglia is called Millefiori because it is on the cover of the Millefiori Quilts book.
2. There is also a Millefiore Quilt Along based on a book by Katja Marek, which uses different shapes.
3. The Patchworks of Lucy Boston also includes a quilt called Passacaglia
4. There is a free Inklingo pattern by Tilde in Denmark called Passacaglia. It was published in 2009.
